Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( PerlMsg ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: < application name> error: 0, Oops, cannot create < application name> object!
|English: Request a translation of the event description in plain English.|
|Concepts to understand:|
What is a DLL?
What is causing the “The description for Event ID ( … ) in Source ( …. ) cannot be found… “?
From a newsgroup post: "This error appeared when I was writing a simple application based on the sample code, which declared a "package main" below the "package PerlSvc" code. In the Startup loop, I made calls into functions in "main", but forgot to preface them with "main::". Use something like this:
# here's where your startup code will go
main::LogIt(localtime()."\n") unless (time() % 30);
Occurs when the Perl compiler runtime cannot instantiate an object from a COM object created with ActiveState Perl Developer Kit.
