- Operation: "Backing Up SharePoint Portal Server Components" - From a newsgroup post: "When a SharePoint backup crashes during the backup process, you need to be able to remove the lock on the SharePoint tables. When using the command prompt to backup SharePoint (spsbackup.exe), you get an error in the event log.
Go into the GUI and try to backup. When you are prompted that a current backup is in process, choose to abort the current backup and the lock will be removed. The command line version of “spsbackup.exe” does not have the functionality to abort a current backup, whereas the GUI does".
