This issue may occur when you are using a version of Exchange 2003 that is earlier than build 6572. See ME820285 for more details.
This behavior occurs because the Exchange IFS drive does not dynamically map. It gets mapped statically according to a registry value. See ME273151 for information on how to solve this behavior.
This issue occurs because SharePoint Portal Server does not map an Installable File System (IFS) drive to the Web Storage System; this is by design. See ME296791.
This error also occurs if you have manually removed the Exchange 2000 M: drive by following ME305145. It can then be ignored and will be resolved in a later Exchange version.
