From a newsgroup post: "The MSSQLServerADHelper service is dynamically started by an instance of SQL Server or the Analysis Manager when needed. The service is stopped as soon as it has completed its work. It does not require you to start it manually. If you do so, the errors obtained will be same as those you have gotten. The SQL Server service must be run under a Windows account that has permissions to start the MSSQLServerADHelper service. By default, members of the local Power Users and local Administrator's groups have this permission. Please refer to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Books Online with keyword 'MSSQLServerADHelper Service' as the search topic".
