Event ID: 1029 Source: POP3Connector

Access was denied to the mailbox <mailbox> logging on as <<user>>. Verify the password for the mailbox account and try again.
In Exchange System Manager -> Connectors -> POP3 Connectors, right-click POP3 Connector in main window and select "Properties". You will probably find that the mailboxes causing the problems are classified as global mailboxes as opposed to user mailboxes. Delete or modify them. This sorted it out for me.
