Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.

What is a directory service?
The ME960489 article provides a workaround and a hotfix. Apparently, the Windows Deployment Services (WDS) server in Windows Server 2008 stops working after the authenticating domain controller becomes unavailable.
I encountered this error with Symantec AV server version 10.1.xx right after the scan was completed. This is happening only for RIS servers running AV server. It does not happen to any other Win2K3 servers. So, on these servers, I uninstalled the server version of the AV, installed the client version and it works fine. But this is not a long term solution as my remote sites clients are pointing to one of these remote servers running as secondary AV servers to provide updates to clients. I will be calling Symantec to get a solution for this. I even upgraded it to the latest version (10.1.4) and still it has the same issue.
