Event ID: 13005 Source: MSExchangePOP3

Logon attempt by <server\username> from <IP address> to <server\username> has failed: <function> call failed with error: <error message>
- Function: EcGetMailboxDN(), error: "Ambiguous Alias" - I have found this event occurs when the mailbox alias is not the same as the username being used to log on to it. Exchange assumes that the alias and username match and if this is not the case, this error is reported.
To resolve this, in Outlook Express, or other POP3 client, specify the username in the following manner:


Therefore, for user Gandalf in domain Fellowship wanting to connect to a mailbox with the alias RingSightings, the following should be used:
