Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.

A network dial-up connection was assigned an incorrect address <ip address>. The ip address must not be defined in the local address table(LAT). All traffic passing through this interface will be blocked. Check the LAT configuration, or contact your ISP to check the IP address pool

Struck this Event ID on a customer's SBS 2K server which uses a dial-up connection to their ISP. Customer complaint was "No Internet Access" - despite a connection being shown to the ISP in the server''s taskbar. Rang ISP Service Desk who confirmed that for "problem" accounts, they accept the log-in but assign "non-standard" IP addresses. Moral: Check your ISP account is valid before calling for IT support!"
