Unable to initialize the protocol stack error code is: <error code> (<error message>). The service has to stop.
If this is occuring together with event ids 12299 and 12290, then this is caused by a recent update of a MS security patch. Follow instructions in EV100020 on how to fix this.
This problem is a result of a global catalog being removed or no longer accessible in the root domain when a parent / child (or multilevel) Active Directory domain is utilized. LCS deployment guide indicates that a global catalog server must be present in the root domain. A customer indicated that a GC in the root domain was removed one day before the service stopped running. Adding a replacement GC in the root domain resolved the problem. See EV100021 on how to download the "Live Communications Server 2005 Depoyment Guide" and for more information.
