From a newsgroup post: "
Every time I boot my XPe box, I get this error in the System event log. In the registry, there is a key named "Device Parameters", i.e.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\*PNP0501\PnPBIOS_14\Device Parameters]
but should there also be a "Parameters" key. To get rid of the error message I just added the missing key in registry (without any key values) - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Serial\Parameters"
