I got this error related with HP System Insight Manager after I changed the system administrator password. The event IDs from the event log were: 18452, 17806 (source MSSQLSERVER) and 3 (source HP System Insight Manager). I fixed the problem by running the mxpassword command to update the HP SIM password used to connect to MS SQL database. See the link to “HP Forum ThreadId 977955” for more details.
The SQL server has been configured to operate in "Windows Authentication Mode (Windows Authentication)" and doesn't allow the use of SQL accounts. See ME555332 to see how you can solve this problem.
