Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.

The LPR print monitor failed to open the port named <port name or IP address>: The cause is probably that the server name for this port is incorrect. Printing to this port will fail.

In a Citrix environment, have a look at the Client Printers in the Citrix Management Console. An incorrectly configured printer here can cause this error.
Check whether the printer queue is empty. In our case, a document apparently got ''stuck in the drain'' and logged this event every 2-3 seconds.
As per Microsoft: "This error occurs when the server name for the port is incorrect". See ME165947 and ME810908 for more details.
