After you set the retry values on the Communication Failure Handling tab of the Agents properties dialog box, the settings are ignored. Agents always wait for five minutes before trying to reconnect to the consolidator. Alerts may be delayed by five minutes and this event will be logged. See ME838609 for a hotfix applicable to Microsoft Operations Manager 2000.
Agent canít contact consolidator, which might be caused by increased traffic on the machine or wide-spread domains. The agent will try again in predefined time cycles. You only have to treat this as serious, when the connection fails for longer. See ME295839 for more details.
