This problem occurs under heavy load conditions or when the network connection is unavailable. See ME900333 and ME906858 for two hotfixes applicable to Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005.

This problem occurs if you create MOM performance counters and those performance counters use the InstanceName property. See ME904944 for a hotfix applicable to Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005.

Go to the MOM 2005 Admin Console -> Administration -> Global Settings. In the context menu, choose "Agent Settings", choose "Temporary Storage" tab and increase the value for "Maximum disk space".
