As per Microsoft: "This event indicates that there was an internal error. This can occur if the message transfer agent (MTA) database is corrupt or the MTA DAT files are not accessible". See MSEX2K3DB for additional information about this event.
As per Microsoft: "The MTA is experiencing a problem with a gateway delivery thread. The problem is a result of the deletion of resources that are used internally by the MTA after a site is deleted.". As per ME288166 there is a post-SP4 fix available.
