Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.

In my case, this problem appeared after applying a wrong virus update. To fix it I went to the Symantec web site and downloaded the Sevinst.exe file to a temporary folder. Then I ran the file in a command window i.e. “c:\temp\sevinst.exe NAVNT”. After a reboot, the problem disappeared. See Symantec Knowledge Base Document ID: 1998092408260848 to download the file and for more details.
Symantec says to uninstall/reinstall.
