Event ID: 23 Source: Print

Printer <printer name> failed to initialize because a suitable <printer name> driver could not be found.
According to ME2618460, this event may be logged due to Point and Print Restrictions. See the article on how to configure the Point and Print Restrictions policy to Disabled.
In my case, I removed HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Print\Providers\LanMan Print Service\Server\%SERVERNAME%\%Printers% where: "SERVERNAME" is my printer server and "Printers" is the printer mentioned in the event's description.
I kept seeing this message after uninstalling an HP 2600n LaserJet printer. I could not find any reference to this printer (driver) in the registry. To solve the problem I went to Control Panel -> right click -> Server Properties -> Ports. There I found the offending port definition and deleted it.
When Winfax Pro 10 is uninstalled, errors may appear in the event log. The only way I have found to get rid these errors is to open the registry and manually delete all the references to Winfax Pro. Be sure to make a backup of the registry before proceeding with this action.
As per Microsoft: "The New printer settings you specified have not taken effect. Verify that your connections to the printer are intact and that the settings you specified are valid for the printer". See MSW2KDB for more details.

Error occurs when the printer is not installed properly. To fix this issue open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\ and delete the  key representing the faulty printer. You can then reinstall the drivers.
