Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. See MSW2KDB for information about this event.
The manufacturer says that firmware is current. Other sources say to check for bad cables, or "ghost"-ed hard drives.

For Promise Ultra<xxx> controllers: I've emailed Promise Technologies who makes my ata 100 controller card which this warning comes from, and they have said that this is "purely cosmetic" and there is nothing to worry about.
For Promise Ultra<xxx> controllers: This is the answer i got from the Promise tech support department:
"In fact, it's a cosmetic only problem, it doesn't imply any data/performance loss. That should be fixed in the next firmware update."
It seems like in WinXp the error is recognized correctly and tells about out of date firmware of an ultra Scsi device and that performance may be slow. Got this fixed by flashing the firmware of my old 2940 Adaptec.
