As per Microsoft: "This problem is the result of a bug in the Windows 2000 keyboard driver, and only occurs in conjunction with the Visual Basic SendKeys function". See ME276346 to fix this problem.
This occured when I used a Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse on a Windows 2000 Professional system. The mouse and keyboard would freeze (but the system was ok otherwise). I have replaced the mouse and the problems dissapeared. This event was accompanied by event id 18 from the same source.
