As per ME272999, this problem can occur if a duplicate public information store called "Microsoft Public MDB-1" is created on one or more of the Exchange 2000 servers. However, this only affected the beta versions of Exchange 2000.
ME177673 says that such events can occur on Exchange 5.0 but they are harmless.
ME258056 specifies that on Exchange 5.5, such errors can be fixed by installing the latest Service Pack for Exchange 5.5.
