Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.

Error: 3172: "There was an error sending *** the alert message - (*** ) The error code is ***."
EXPLANATION: An error occurred when an alert message was sent. The user name designated to receive the alert may no longer exist.
ACTION: Use Server Manager to repair the error.
When we wanted to configure who to receive the administrative alerts in W2K, we were surprised to find that there is no tool for that. In NT4 we used Server Manager. Unbelievable, but with W2K you have to use registry! See ME243625.
