Event ID: 4098 Source: GroupPolicyShortcuts

The computer 'My Settings' preference item in the 'Default Domain Policy {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code <error code> <error description> This error was suppressed.
This event can contain different error types. Since it simply says that the Group Policy failed to apply, the error code and its description (and the name of the policy itself) are the most important clues as to what went wrong.

A common occurrence is Error code 0x80070002 (The system cannot find the file specified). The recommended troubleshooting approach is to verify each configuration parameters for the specified policy and determine what files is trying to access and see if the files are present. In some cases, a lack of permissions may lead to "file not found" type of error.

Other error codes recorded with this event:
- Error code 0x80070003 The system cannot find the path specified.
- Error code 0x80070035 The network path was not found.
- Error code 0x80070005 Access is denied
