Event ID: 4100 Source: EventSystem

The COM+ Event System failed to create an instance of the subscriber {<CLID>}.  CoCreateInstanceEx returned HRESULT <error code>.
CLID {6295DF2D-35EE-11D1-8707-00C04FD93327}: mobsync (Synchonization Manager)

Error code 8000401A: The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect.  Check the username and password.

As per Microsoft: "To resolve this behavior, use the Regsvr32 tool to unregister the Mobsync.dll file from the server.".

Suggestions from newsgroups:
Check HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{6295DF2D-35EE-11d1-8707-00C04FD93327}
You should see this:
- (Default) REG_SZ MobSync
- RunAs REG_SZ Interactive User
If the RunAs value is misspelled or has wrong information, make it look like this.

Error code: 80040154 - See the link to Error code 0x80040154 for some information about this error.

Error code: 80070422 - no info
Error code: 80040201 - no info
- Error Code: 8007000E = “The COM+ Event System ran out of memory during its internal processing, at line .\notify.cpp” - This error has been encountered when an application was attempting to write to the NT/W2K event log but the NT/W2K event log was full. The event log was set to “Override events older than NN days” (and there was no system message indicating that it was full). Changing this to “Overwrite Events as Needed” removed the error. The application in question was a Visual Basic 6 application, it is not clear if that is significant.

Various other things can cause this error. Errors you might see are "System Resource Exceeded" and "Not Enough Storage Is Available to Complete This Operation". You should see the following KB articles to see if any of these situations apply to your problem:
ME248668 - BUG: "Not Enough Storage Is Available to Complete This Operation" with Oracle OLE DB.
ME189782 - BUG: RegQueryValueEx() Fails When lpValueName Is NULL.
ME182423 - FIX: "Not Enough Storage is Available..." Error with ADO.
ME174776 - Index Server Queries Return Not Enough Storage Is Available Error.
ME254759 - BUG: ListAvailableServers Method of the SQLDMO.Application Object Causes Error 0x800A000E.

Otherwise, a sure way to alleviate the problem is to upgrade or reinstall the latest version of MDAC.
In my case, this problem appeared because the SQL server ran out of resources. The error 8007000e indicates that not enough storage is available to complete the operation. In other words, the error 8007000e is a "out of memory" error. Release memory and try again.
- Error code: 8000401A - See "FAQShop Article".
This event was appearing on my PCs, which were set to auto-power on via BIOS. Since nobody is logged on when synchronization was attempted, there is no "Interactive User" so this error is logged. By running Mobsync (Start -> Run -> Mobsync) you can change the settings or ignore the error.
- Error code: 8000401A - As per Microsoft: "This problem occurs if the Patch UI Monitor component tries to call the client user interface (UI) when no user is logged on". See ME831648 for a hotfix applicable to Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003.

From a newsgroup post: "Try performing a clean boot to see if the issue is resolved. Follow the instructions in ME310353 for details".

Error code: 8000401A, CLID: {6295DF2D-35EE-11D1-8707-00C04FD93327}. According to ME289650 this is a problem which can be resolved by running the command:

regsvr32 "%systemroot%\system32\mobsync.dll" /u.

This unregisters the mobsync dll but also stops CSC (client side caching) from working.
