What is a distributed transaction?
In Windows 2000, the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service is installed by default. You cannot uninstall it by using Add/Remove Programs. See M243204 for more details. The MSDTC service can be stopped and disabled if it is not required. See the link to “Minimizing Windows network services”.
