Event ID: 4621 Source: EventSystem

The COM+ Event System could not remove the EventSystem.EventSubscription object {CEB8B221-89C5-41A8-98CE-79B413BF150B}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The HRESULT was 80070005.
T774362 advises to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) and provides some suggestions on how to verify if the COM+ is working properly. However, this is not a very practical approach in fixing this problem.

The HRESULT error code recorded in the event description may provide a rough idea about what went wrong. For example "80070005" means "access denied" and there can be many reasons for that. See Error code 0x80070005 and Error code 5.

The object GUID recorded can help identifying the application that caused the problem. That and the error code represent a good start in fixing the problem. For example, GUID A5978620-5B3F-F1D1-8ED2-00FA0035B753 is associated with Microsoft Messenger. One way of finding which application is using the GUID is to search the registry for the actual GUID. Open the registry editor (regedit), go to the root of the registry (click on My Computer) then select Edit, Find in the menu and enter the GUID.

For the particular A5978620-5B3F-F1D1-8ED2-00FA0035B753 I GUID and 80070005 HRESULT the user fixed the problem by starting the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator service (and setting it to Automatic startup mode).
GUID CEB8B221-89C5-41A8-98CE-79B413BF150B, HRESULT 80070005 - One user reported that this particular error was fixed by restoring the security settings to the default values (as described in ME313222).
