Event ID: 5719 Source: NETLOGON

No Domain Controller is available for domain <mydomain> due to the following:
<error message>. This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
Error message: "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request." - In our case, this was caused by the Gigabit Ethernet NIC and switch port being set to Autodectect speed/duplex and not being able to detect Gig speed. Setting the switch port to 'portfast' did not resolve the problem, nor did setting the NIC or switch port to a fixed Gig speed/full duplex.

For Windows 7 computers, the hotfix supplied by MS at ME2459530 resolved the issue.

For XP machine, creating registry entry in either the local machine's registry or in Group Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Preferences -> Windows Settings -> Registry of:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\DisableDHCPMediaSense as a REG_DWORD, Decimal Value 1

I set as REPLACE, as Update doesn't always seem to be read when GP is applied by machines.
