Backupexec will not perform a differential backup if circular logging is enabled. This is because a differential backup does not reset the archive bit or commit the transaction log files. Circular logging is a nice idea but makes backups a pain. Most organizations disable circular logging.
WARNING: If you disable circular logging the transaction logs will continue to build up until the next normal backup (or you delete them). If you do not perform a normal backup regularly, the transaction logs will fill the partition and shut the server down. You must perform a normal backup in order to have the transaction action logs commited when using backupexec.
