As per Symantec: "This problem can occur when scanning a FAT32 formatted hard drive on a Windows NT/2000/XP computer. This was resolved with Symantec AV 8.01, build 446. You may also experience this problem if there are insufficient permissions associated with a file system object. In this case, checking and appropriately modifying permissions resolves the problem".
