The operating system returned error 1450(Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.) to SQL Server during a write at offset 0x0000094e977a00 in file with handle 0x00000874. This is usually a temporary condition and the SQL Server will keep retrying the operation. If the condition persists then immediate action must be taken to correct it.

This occurs on our server running MS SQL 2005 Server SP3 during a backup of a log of 40 GB.
EV100481 (The operating system returned error 1450 during a SQL Server write) provides information on how to troubleshoot this event when caused by a backup job.
This type of error indicates that some of the tasks performed by the SQL server required more resources than the server was able to provide. As the message indicates, this may be a temporary condition and it may get fixed by itself, however, if the server is always at the max of its resources, steps should be taken to either upgrade the hardware or lessen to load on the SQL server itself.
