The device, \Device\Scsi\Symmpi1, did not respond within the timeout period.
From a newsgroup post: "On Windows 2000, our Virtual Machines had the same problem. After changing the "TimeOutValue" for the SCSI device in the registry (of the VM), the problem was solved". See "VMware Support Answer ID: 1014" for details on how to do that.
