From a newsgroup post: "On Windows 2000, our Virtual Machines had the same problem. After changing the "TimeOutValue" for the SCSI device in the registry (of the VM), the problem was solved". See "VMware Support Answer ID: 1014" for details on how to do that.

This event is common to many controllers. See ME154690 and event id 9 from adpu160m.

Try also to update the drivers - Dell reported a few event log errors from this driver caused by outdated firmware.
