Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.
The device \Device\Scsi\rr174x1 did not respond within the timeout period.

This event is common to many controllers. See event id 9 from adpu160m.
I got this from a Highpoint 1742 RAID controller connected to a SANS TR8M disk tower with four Western Digital WD10EADS 1TB drives two disks configured RAID1 two disks configured RAID0 and four empty slots.
Following the error the drives in the tower stay permanently idle any running programs on the PC which were accessing either of the RAID volumes hang and must be killed in fact since one of the volumes contains user profiles sometimes the PC hangs on shutdown and must be hard-shutdown.
