This event can occur if you use the "Catutil.exe" tool to move the Search property store log files to the root of a drive without enclosing the drive name in quotation marks. See ME274672 for more details.
From a newsgroup post: "It could be that your index files are corrupted. I would delete them and re-run full indexes. Copy them to a neutral location for backup purposes before deleting them. We had several problems with our indexes too. A lot of them turned out to be caused by someone running a Virus scan on the Database and corrupting it. This may not be the problem with your system, but is worth checking it out".
