Build a great reporting interface using Splunk, one of the leaders in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) field, linking the collected Windows events to www.eventid.net. The EventId.Net for Splunk Add-on assumes that Splunk is collecting information from Windows servers and workstation via the Splunk Universal Forwarder.

Failed to send SMTP message. <error message>. The server response was: <server response>.
|English: Request a translation of the event description in plain English.|
In my case, restarting the MOM service (net stop mom, net start mom) fixed the problem.
By default, MOM 2005 uses NTLM to authenticate the SMTP server that is listed in the E-mail Server global settings in the MOM 2005 Administrator console before MOM 2005 sends the e-mail notification response. If the SMTP server does not support NTLM authentication or is configured to accept anonymous authentication, this event is logged. See ME885741 to solve this problem.
Check your email server settings and then the email server availability. Go to MOM 2005 Administrator Console -> Administration -> Global Settings -> tab "e-mail server".
