In my case, this issue was caused by overheating. The event log may also show event ID 37 "The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report." The solution was to install better CPU fans.

This is a major bug for Windows 7 and you'll see this exact error listed all over the Internet with few solutions. From the many, many hours I've spent trying to figure out what is wrong with Windows I've found 3 potential answers:
- Driver updates
- PSU (Power Supply Unit)
- Hope that Service Pack 1 fixes it

I had the same problem since I've installed my Windows 7 64Bit. I've turned all of my power savers off like sleep, hibernate and screensaver. The problem occurs less now but still there. I'm convinced that its some thing in the graphics power management, didn't figured it all out yet.

I recently installed Windows 7 64 bit with no problem and received the same error. I never had this error until I plugged in this USB 4 port usb 2.0 high speed hub by Gigaware. I have had it running and been crashing. Removed it and no crashes since. I think the error is related to heating issues.

This error seems to be inherent in three different Acer Aspire AM5811-E1512 systems. I brought 3 of these as refurb/recert systems and encounter this error on a regular basis on all of them. System just blacks out and shuts down randomly whether or not I'm using an app. I haven't seen any disk structure problems, though.

In many cases, this error occurs often whilst playing graphics intensive PC games - a number of PC games forums are reporting this. My PC is having the same issue and is awaiting technical service. It first began to occur after installing Vista 64bit, but has continued to occur after installing Win 7 64bit.
