Event ID: 100
Event Source: sharepoint
Event Type: Error
Event Description: Failed to initialize SharePoint Products and Technologies upgrade.
An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PostSetupConfigurationTaskException was thrown.  Additional exception information: The pre-upgrade scan tool has not yet been run successfully on all content databases in the server farm. The pre-upgrade scan tool must complete without errors before you can continue with the upgrade process.
Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PostSetupConfigurationTaskException: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PostSetupConfigurationTaskException' was thrown.
   at Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.InitializeTask.PrepareForUpgrade()
   at Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.InitializeTask.Run()

Comment: This can occure because the prescan tool generates an execption only when run from the GUI. Running the prescan tool manually enabeled me to complete the upgrade from ver 2 to ver 3. The command is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN\prescan /ALL

Event Type: Error
Event Description: The description for Event ID 100 in Source "rdtunnel" cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
Comment: The error is rather trivial however it does cause quite a mess when trying to trace other unrelated errors. It fills up the event logs rather quickly and apparently everyone is looking for the answer.
