There is a hotfix available if you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2003. See M840551 to obtain the hotfix.
This indicates that an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred. Some Pentium processors have a feature called Machine Check Exception (MCE) that allows them to report hardware errors to the operating system. So most probably, the processor detected a faulty hardware and notified the system. In such cases, the operating system will simply shut down, recording this error, in order to avoid further damage to the data.
Example of errors that may trigger this exception:
- System bus errors.
- Memory errors that may include parity or Error Correction Code (ECC) problems.
- Cache errors in the processor or hardware.
