Comment: In my scenario we had a domain name changed and the login was a domain login for the catalogs. When in the Index Service snap-in under the catalog that is firing the error, click on Directories and double click the indexed Directory. This will have the path to be indexed as well as a logon. I changed the domain user to an existing user and started the index service. This corrected my issue. Index: 4399
